Oliver Chooses g1 Glasgow for first Scottish Restaurant Leading restauranteur
Jamie Oliver will open his first Scottish Jamie's Italian restaurant at G1 Glasgow
in George Square. At over 8,000 sq ft, the restaurant will be the largest
in Jamie's rapidly expanding chain, which currently operates in Canary Wharf,
Bath, Oxford, Cardiff, Kingston and Guildford. Following from their strategy of
opening in prominent locations, G1 Glasgow's location at the civic, cultural and
commercial heart of the City was an obvious instant attraction. A key ingredient
to the overwhelming success of Jamie's Italian has been providing an exceptional
dining environment, and an extensive fit out is planned to create one of the coolest
restaurants in Glasgow. Located on the ground and lower ground floors, the restaurant
will provide over 250 covers with an open kitchen on the ground floor. Simon
Blagden at Jamie's Italian, explained "G1 Glasgow has the perfect mix of
character, quality and location that we need for our restaurants." Stephen
Lewis, Development Director at HF Developments, explained "G1 Glasgow was
the obvious choice for Jamie's first Scottish restaurant. The development is quite
simply the best in Glasgow, which is reflected in the calibre of our latest occupier.
We are delighted to welcome Jamie's Italian to G1 and wish Jamie and his team
every success with the latest venture." Jamie joins leading construction
and international property consultancy Gardiner & Theobold, whose deal to
occupy the first floor of the building set a new headline office rental in Glasgow
of £29.50 per sq ft. Cushman & Wakefield represented HF Developments,
while Graeme Wait represented Jamie's Italian.
